1. Vulnerability of Lack of Conscientiousness
2. I would connect the acts of "The Lottery" to the Rawandan Genocide. In the story no one really knows why they do this weekly act. They just do it because it's been done for longer then they can remember and at the time it seemed right and if you kill one person a week for many years that is alot of people dead for no reason. The Rawandan Genocide wasn't something that was done for a long time but the anger between the Hutu's and the Tutsis's lasted for a while before the war started and that was what caused the war in 1994 when the Tutsi's invaded the Hutus land. The thing the two incidents have in common isn't that though it's the act of killing innocent people just because.
3. Elie Wiesel's speech connects with the face that he talks over and over how indifference can be harsher then anger, and it can. By not caring and saying something, this community is allowing a person who is completely innocent to die each week all because no one says "this is wrong". The speech says that we are doing more harm by not caring then standing up getting angry. He talks about the Hollocaust saying if someone had of stepped in and really stood strong and said no alot less people might have been killed. If the people of the community decided they didn't want to do this ritual anymore like other communities many people would still be alive.
